Rockingham Castle Jacobite Rebellion 1745

Contracted by Rockingham Castle, Historical Promotions and Event Management designed and implemented a Jacobite Rebellion at the castle in 2005. The event was designed to use the grounds and interior of the castle in an imaginative and informative format with costumed interpretation, displays and discussions on the period.

Over the weekend, a series of cameo and character venerate performances were organised inside the castle using the kitchens for making and preparing period food with formal 18th Century dining in the Great Hall. Costumed interpretation included, using other areas of the castle for spinning and weaving, embroidery, craft demonstrations and discussions on period fashions and gossip.

Within the castle grounds encampments were erected featuring Jacobite and Government Forces with a series of timed displays taking place in the arena each day.

Clients Comment:

"I am writing to thank you for organising such an informative, imaginatively designed and successful weekend at Rockingham Castle. The weekend proved very rewarding for members of the public and for the estate. We particularly enjoyed seeing the kitchens and Great Hall being used for this type of event, which brought the house to life in a way that we could never have visualised. Thank you once again for such a great event and we look forward to working with you again next year."
